About us

Vogel & Plötscher produces precision mechanical products, electrical traction drives and measuring systems for track building. With the experience of 55 years of development, V&P today is one of the leading manufacturers worldwide in track measurement technology. Furthermore, V&P is active in drive technology and offers efficient and powerful axial flux motors.

Our history

While measurement technology by V&P sets standards in terms of accuracy and reliability, axial flux motors convince with their compactness and robustness. The high vertical range of manufacture, independent electronics development and software programming guarantee maximum flexibility and enable the implementation of customer-specific solutions.

1964

All began in 1964

The “Rudolf Vogel Feinmachnik” was founded. Two employees begin to think about measuring devices for track building. As is all started with simple devices for monitoring the track geometry, today there are multifunctional measuring systems with digital displays and electric evaluation of the results.

1984

Vogel is extended by Plötscher

Already in 1977 Klaus Plötscher joins the company as a new partner and the company is known in the measurement technology sector for track building. Through the increasing impact of Klaus Plötscher, the company’s name was changed to „Vogel & Plötscher GmbH”.

1996

Start of our digitalization

The company has continuously developed. Due to new demands from the market, with MessReg the first digital switch measuring system was introduced at Deutsche Bahn (DB). A milestone not only in the company’s history.

2000

Hardware needs Software

Software developments has started in the 80s as customers demanded for more documentation and management of the tracks which must be measured. Until today, with the establishment of our own software development in 2000, there is a continuous (new) development of measuring systems for all applications like track and switch inspection, the measurement of track geometry or rail conditions as well as their software connection and reporting of the measurement data.

2003

Establishment of own electronics development

The development of an own electronics development completes the insourcing of V&P. Since 2013, development, engineering, production, assembly, software and electronics have come from one source. This enables the individual reaction to customer requirements and to offer customer-specific solutions.

2009

New office and production plant

Due to constant growth of the company, the previous plant in Breisach becomes too small. The new plant is built within Breisach. In the meantime, there was another extension of the building to meet the increasing demand.

2013

Diversification

In 2013, the development and production of electrical traction drives has started. The efficient and powerful axial flux motors convince with precision and perfection in every single component. In addition to customer-specific solutions, it is possible to equip the motors with a suitable gear.

2019

Member of the ROBEL Group

The ROBEL Group acquires company shares and becomes majority owner of Vogel & Plötscher with V&P still acting as an independent company. Due to the longtime cooperation in day-to-day business, the companys know each other very well and benefit from each other with synergy effects. Two strong brands – one way: this is now the creed of the common journey.

2021

Diversification in drive technology

After the bankruptcy of the supplier of stator cores for the motors, V&P takes over the supplier with all technology, know-how and customer-relations in order to secure future demands. With a first order for 8 punching and winding machines, the product range continues to grow.
