POINT is a measuring device for measuring distances between fixed points (e.g. signal post, concrete walls, etc.) to the track and for checking individual level values using an appropriate measuring gauge. The measured points can be compared to plans about the position and level of tracks for analysis of trends.
With POINT distances between fixed points to the track as well as height differences can be measured in a few steps. The measuring device is placed on the rail head with the help of magnets. The tape is fastened at the fixed point and it is drawn towards the device in order to read off the corresponding measurement values.
The measuring device is selectively available with a measuring tape (tape beginning) according to German DB or Austrian ÖBB specification.
